What is a Tweet Chat?
What is a Tweet Chat?
A tweetchat is a public conversation that takes place on Twitter 140 characters at a time. Tweetchats use a single hashtag (like #curechat or #CTSM) to organize the thread of the discussion. The hashtag allows people to follow the conversation ensuring that all tweets with the tag are included in the filtered stream.
What is a Hashtag?
Twitter, Facebook and Instagram use hashtags. A hashtag is used to identify groups or categories of interest. Hashtags like #Soccer or #Football help people find relevant conversations about these topics.
Platforms like TweetChat and tchat make participating in a social media chat easier by creating chat rooms. These programs pull the #curechat tweets into one platform. Once you log in with your Twitter credentials, both tweetchat and tchat will automatically add the #curechat hashtag to each of your tweets—one less thing you have to think about.

Need help getting started on Twitter? Twitter has resources to get you started:
The biggest mistake newcomers make is using the regular Twitter platform and forgetting to add the #CureChat hashtag to their tweets. That’s like trying to have a phone conversation with the mute button on — No one will hear you!
Cure Forward’s twitter chats last one hour and are focused on a predetermined theme broken down into several topics that we designate using T1, T2, T3, etc. We ask that everyone tag their contributing tweet with the topic number to make the live chat and follow up chat transcripts easier to follow.
We strive for a friendly, respectful, professional environment and always begin our chats with time for people to share greetings and introduce themselves, then we jump right in. Sometimes newcomers prefer to “lurk,” which is to just read the chat stream as it is happening.
If you miss one of Cure Forward’s twitter chats, don’t worry, we will post a recap after the event is over.
We hope you’ll join us as we share ideas and information around clinical trials and innovations in patient-centered oncology.
